New post coming soon with lots of pics.

Sadly the NZ Warbirds – Pearl Harbor 70th Anniversary Open Day was cut short by bad weather.
They managed to get a short show up at 10:45 which was spectacular, then rain and low cloud stopped play.
I’ve posted a few photos on Flicker with a couple of videos coming soon. I’ll up date this post as they happen.
Finally got round to editing the first batch of photos from Ardmore. It was a fantastic day with lots of flying and the odd shower didn’t stop the fun.

I’ve just received this fantastic book about one of my favourite aeroplanes. The timing couldn’t be better with the Pearl Harbour 70th Anniversary Airshow at Ardmore this weekend, where you can see a P51D Mustang, there’s a few videos on our You Tube site to give you an idea of what a stunning aircraft this is.
The publisher outlines this hardback book well:
The Mustang was born from a British WW2 specification to North American during 1940. The prototype was completed within 117 days but the RAF was not happy with the aircraft’s performance and suggested replacing the V-12 Allison engine with the more powerful RR Merlin. The result was a superbly fast and manoeuvrable aircraft that had the range to escort Allied bomber forces on raids deep into occupied Europe. A total of 15,469 of the type were built and were also used in combat during the Korea War.
This book contains the world famous colour profiles created by Dave Windle of the type in different operational modes, configurations and colour schemes. Martin Bowman has written detailed descriptions and supplied superb photographs to create the perfect enthusiast’s reference.
Even better Fishpond are offering it at 47% off! $30.99* instead of the usual price of $57.99 – a $27.00 Saving! Oh yes, and Free postage in NZ too.
